UDHAMPUR, Oct 10: The ongoing strike by Safai Karamcharis, being led by Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh Udhampur, entered into second consecutive day on Thursday.
The protesting Safai Karamcharis assembled in front of the office of Municipal Committee Udhampur and held a strong demonstration in favor of their long pending demands, including their regularization and enhancement of wages. They are also demanding an end to contract system of Safai Karamcharis through private contractors.
Due to the ongoing strike, the Udhampur town is badly suffering as garbage dumps are seen here and there emanating foul smell .
Kaka Husan, District president of Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh addressed the protesting workers and vowed to continued the agitation till their demands are conceded.
