JAMMU, Apr 10: Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) today highlighted their genuine demands and appealed Mayor and Commissioner of JMC to fulfill those without any delay.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rinku Gill, president, Civic Safai Karamchari Union, JMC said that on January 17, 2019 the Association had projected the demands of the employees in front of Mayor and Commissioner but no positive step was taken to fulfill their demands, due to which there is anger among the Safai Karamcharis for the authorities.
Reiterating the demands of the Association, Gill demanded reorganization of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and regularization of services of drivers, who, he said, have been continuously giving their services in the Corporation for last more than 13 years without any break.
“Administration had advertised 600 posts of Safai Karamcharis in the month of June this year but till today the date of conducting the interview of the candidates has not fixed”, Gill said and stressed upon the administration to take an early decision in the matter as due to lack of labour, the already working Safai Karamcharis are overburdened.
Gill also stressed upon the administration to pay 2 ½ days salary and sanction gazetted holidays to Safai Karamcharis. He also demanded establishing new Municipal Colony sanctioned in the year 1957 for the Safai Karamcharis, stating that in existing colonies, Safai Karamcharis are forced to live in single congested rooms.
