JAMMU, Apr 27: Civil Safai Karamchari Union of the Jammu Municipal Corporation has urged upon the Government to go for the re-organisation of the JMC and also regularize contractual/ temporary workers.
Rinku Gill, president of the Union in a press statement here today said that JMC has been extended from 23 to 71 wards that is from 32 Sq Kms to112 Sq Kms but since 2005 till today the strength of the staff remains the same. The workers are over burdened and it is strongly demanded that Govt must go for the reorganization of the JMC.
Mr Gill also demanded scrapping of the NGO contract system and restore the old pattern of the sanitation and cleanliness works, withdraw staff from parking slots and deploy in the wards, regularize contractual/ temporary employees including drivers and early conduct of DPC of all cadre of Municipal employees.
The Union warned that if the Higher authorities failed to address the issues of the JMC workers, the Union will be forced to go on strike on May 5. Rohit George president Clerical Union of JMC, Ranjit Singh president Drivers and Cleaners Union also supported the cause.
