SRINAGAR, Aug 20: A delegation of residents of Sadunara Hastlkhan, Sonawari in district Bandipora, Kashmir called on Advisor to Lt. Governor, R R Bhatnagar and submitted a charter of demands highlighting the problems of the people of the area to him.
The delegation led by Bashir Ahmed Dar a social activist of the area turned the attention of the Advisor towards the acute drinking water shortage faced by the people of the area and demanded that till completion of the water supply scheme for Hastlkhan Sadunara the people be provided raw water through new water supply scheme or by old water supply scheme via Darakhori Sadunara to tail portion upto Panchayat Sadunara as the inhabitants of the area are craving for drinking water at present.
The delegation said that in view of the present COVID pandemic the water scarcity has also created an alarming situation in the area as the people need more water to maintain cleanliness.
The delegation stressed that the directives be issued to concerned authorities of Design Directorate Srinagar for necessary approval for filtration plant and overhead tank immediately so that the much talked about water supply scheme is completed at the earliest and people of the area will get a succor.
It said the water supply scheme for the area was sanctioned by J&K Government since long for which PHE Department had already constructed PST and have tendered the balance work i.e filtration plant and over head tank due to change of the site of OHT. The PHE Department has approached the Design Directorate for approval of both the works last year but the same is still pending adding to the discomfiture of the inhabitants of the area further.
The delegation also demanded construction of road from Hajin bridge to Ajas via Sadunara Bandipora through ERA which is pending as DC Bandipora has not issued permission for lifting of GSB from Nallah Madumati, Bandipora.
The Advisor issued instructions to concerned authorities for necessary action in the matter.
The other members of the delegation included Mohammed Shafi Sarpanch, Abdul Majid Panch, Abdul Rehman and Manzoor Ahmed.
