JAMMU, Sept 24: Minister for Planning, Ajay Sadhotra convened a meeting with senior officers to take stock of damages and progress in relief and rehabilitation work in Jammu division.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, Special Relief Commissioner Co-ordination Bipul Pathak, IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Chief Engineer PHE, Joint Director CA&PD, other senior officers of various department were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner apprised the Minister about the present status of relief and rehabilitation work in various districts of Jammu division.
Sadhotra enjoined upon the officers to work with utmost zeal and dedication for ensuring timely relief to the flood affected. He reviewed the progress of distribution of ration to the flood hit families in various districts of Jammu and directed the CAPD authorities to ensure timely distribution of free ration. He was informed about the present status of distribution of ration in various districts especially Rajouri and Poonch where the flood had intense affect.
The Minister also asked the Divisional Commissioner to ensure that cash relief under house damage (fully and partially) would be given at the earliest. He also instructed for providing adequate number of blankets, tents and other allied materials to flood affected families particularly in hilly areas.
Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control apprised the Minister about the works under progress for temporary and permanent restoration of damages caused to I & FC sector while the water supply in Jammu district has been restored, he added.
The Minister also took stock of loss of livestock, damages to the crops in the recent fury of rain in the Jammu division.
He directed for enlisting the names of flood hits families in various tehsil offices for the convenience of the general public and also to provide opportunity to those flood victims to enlist their names in the list, if not found.
Sadhotra stressed for close liaison between various agencies so that the timely relief would be delivered to the affectees of natural disaster.
