SRINAGAR: Train services were suspended this afternoon for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where clashes erupted between security force and protestors, after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Sabzar Bhat in an encounter in south Kashmir this morning.
”We have suspended all train services between Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir,” a Railway official told UNI. Similarly, railway service on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region has also been suspended for security reasons.
However, he said train run was normal on all tracks in the morning.
Protests followed clashes at several places in the valley, including summer capital Srinagar, immediately after the death of the HM commander.
Sabzar, who succeeded Burhan Wani, was among three militants killed in a fierce encounter at Tral in Pulwama district.
The train service in the valley remained suspended for about six months last year due to unrest in the valley after the death of Burhan Wani. (AGENCIES)
