RAJOURI, June 19: A one-day awareness camp-cum-Kissan Mela was organized by J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans (SABDK) under information, Education and Communication (IEC) programme here at Seiya in Nowshera.
A large number of farmers participated in the programme. All the wings of Agriculture and allied departments had laid their stalls wherefrom the officers of Agriculture and allied sectors interacted with the farmers and guided them for adoption of new and innovative agricultural technology for boosting their agricultural produce.
The gathering was specially addressed by Minister of State and Vice-Chairman of the Board, Radhay Sham Sharma, who also inaugurated the programme.
While speaking Sharma said that the Government has initiated numerous measures for welfare of the farmers. He also advised the farming community to take maximum benefits of various farmer-friendly schemes launched by the State and Central Government and use the latest agricultural technologies for boosting their crop production including cash crops.
He also informed the farmers that a grievance cell stands established in the Kissan Board and they can approach the cell for their timely and appropriate action of their day-to-day grievances.
Laying stress on the research work to evolve hybrid varieties of fruit and vegetables, the vice-chairman said that scientists should focus on the varieties, which best suited to the local conditions.
Sharma also asked the farmers to adopt cultivation of Alovera and Marigold flower in a big way, adding an attractive component of subsidy is available for the agricultural activities and farmers should take advantage of these schemes.
