JAMMU, Nov 1: The 14th SAARC Law Conference and 11th SAARC Chief Justices Conference concluded at Colombo.
In the conference, the participating Chief Justices reiterated their resolve to overcome problems facing the judicial systems in their respective countries.
Three important issues focused in the conference included judicial delay, inaccessibility to justice systems and transgressions in exercise of judicial power and consensus was that these being common to all the countries required to be dealt with by a holistic and coordinated effort.
The conference was attended by all Chief Justices of SAARC countries except Chief Justice of India, who could not attend due to some pre-occupation back home. The Indian delegation amongst other law persons comprised Attorney General K K Venugopal and J&K State Accountability Commission Chairperson Justice B A Khan.
On the occasion, Venugopal was conferred Life Time Achievement Award for his contribution in promoting friendship and understanding in legal fraternity of these countries.
