MENDHAR, Apr 13: A rusted mortar shell was recovered from a forward village in Mendhar sector of Poonch district on Monday.
Reports said the old explosive device was spotted by local villagers in an open field near Sandote village in Balakote area. Upon noticing the suspicious object, the villagers immediately informed the security forces.
Army’s bomb disposal squad was promptly rushed to the spot. After assessing the situation, the team safely neutralized the mortar shell through a controlled explosion, ensuring there was no threat to civilian lives or property.
