JAMMU, June 29: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu Deep Raj Kanethia convened a meeting and reviewed the functioning of Motor Vehicle Department (MVD).
It was told that maximum services in the department have been made online and daily more than 2000 persons visit for availing different types of services who are being guided properly and provided required services in time.
All the employees were directed to comply with the recently issued order where under the entry of the unauthorized persons in the office has been restricted and people have been asked to come personally or send those in their blood relations for availing services to stop the tout system. In case of commercial vehicles only those representatives of transport companies having valid licences are allowed to avail the services exclusively in that category of vehicles from the department.
It was impressed upon all the employees to deliver the services in the fixed time bound manner from the single window system as per the SoP issued and do not entertain any unauthorized persons as per the directions issued by the Transport Commissioner J&K. They were warned of serious consequences if any employee will be found violating the directions or indulging in corrupt practices.
The postal delivery of the driving licences was also discussed and it was informed that the MoU has been signed with Postal Department for home delivery of the driving licenses and those dealing with the section should gear up for it. It was informed to all that from July 1 this year the driving licenses will be delivered at home addresses through post offices and no other mode of distribution of driving licenses will be allowed as per decision taken by the higher authorities.
Further, in view of ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the checking squads were also constituted for extensive checking of traffic violations taking place in general and for checking of the documents of vehicles and driving licence of drivers of specifically coming vehicles from outside the State for the pilgrimage. The checking squads were directed to furnish daily inspection report for onward submission and ensure that no vehicle without valid document proceed for the yatra.
Among others present were Jugal Kishore Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Shafqat Majid, ARTOs and all other MVIs of district Jammu.
