KATHUA, Apr 29: As the Coronavirus threat is growing at an alarming speed in India and the whole world, people at the most risk of COVID-19 infection are those who are frontline warriors and are always in close contact with a suspect/confirmed COVID-19 patients, mostly doctors and health care workers.
Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh took a first of its kind initiative to help doctors and health care workers fighting against COVID-19 by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to frontline warriors of GMC Jammu and other District/Sub-district hospitals.
It is pertinent to mention here that RSS is always in forefront to serve the nation in the hour of crisis and on the similar pattern, Kathua Unit of RSS handed over more than 40 PPE kits along with N-95 masks, Sanitizers, goggles etc to the management of GMC, Kathua.
The kits were handed over by Surinder Bajaj, Zila Sahsangchalak of RSS Kathua in presence of Dr Suleman Choudhary, Principal GMC Kathua, Dr S K Atri, Coordinator COVID-19 for Kathua, Dr Anil Gupta, Sr Surgeon, Surinder Sharma, Sah Prant Karyavah, Pawan Sharma and Diwakar Sharma of RSS.
Dr Suleman Choudhary highly applauded the noble gesture of RSS of taking care of medical fraternity, especially when the whole country is facing scarcity of such kits.
He said these kits will be instrumental in fighting the war which has grappled the entire world.
On this occasion, Bajaj said, “doctors, nurses and paramedics are the actual warriors who are fighting the Coronavirus by putting their lives at risk. RSS has always led from the front whenever the country has faced such crisis.
“We are handing over the Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) with specialized goggles to the management so that doctors and other staff in the hospital can protect themselves from the virus,” Bajaj said, adding doctors are doing a yeoman’s job like soldiers on the borders.
Bajaj also disclosed that more such initiatives will be taken in the district as well as block level hospitals across Jammu region.
It pertinent to mention here that RSS and Sewa Bharti, are distributing dry ration, masks, soaps, sanitizers etc to the needy people from day one of the lockdown. Till date RSS has distributed these items, besides other essential items to more than four thousand families in Kathua.
