SRINAGAR, Sept 15: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan today said that to provide free health care facilities to the children up to the age of 18 years, the Rashtriya Swasthik Bal Karyakarm (RSBK) would be launched soon in the State, adding that this programme in first phase would be implemented in three districts two in Kashmir and one in Jammu division. The other districts would also be covered under this programme in phased manner.
The services of ISM doctors and other para-medical staff would be engaged on contractual basis, who would visit different areas for screening and check-up of children for free treatment in health institutions, said the Minister.
This was revealed by the Minister while chairing monthly meeting of Health Services Kashmir to review the functioning of the department held here today.
Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education, Ganzaffer Hussain, Director ISM, Dr. Abdul Kabir, Mission Director National Rural Health Mission, Dr.Yash Pal Sharma, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rahman, Project Director AIDS Control Society, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev Sharma, Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization, Satish Gupta, Deputy Directors Health Services Kashmir, Medical Superintendents, CMOs, BMOs and other senior functionaries of different wings of the departments were present in the meeting.
The Minister said that State Health Department has decided to equip ambulances with Global Positioning System (GPS) to check their misuse and improve the service efficiency. In this regard, the department would establish two Control Rooms, one each in Jammu and Srinagar to regulate the service that can be availed by dialling 102.” This mechanism will not only help tracing vehicles in times of need, but also ensure checking their misuse,” said the Minister.
The Minister also informed that the State Government has decided to organize crash courses in Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, Radiology and other streams to enable the doctors posted in remote areas to cater to varied healthcare needs of the patients. He said that in view of paucity of staff in health intuitions of far flung areas, the doctors posted there would be imparted crash courses in all important streams to enable them to handle the emergency patients suffering from varied ailments.
Reviewing the functioning of the department, the Minister called upon the Medical Superintendents, Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers and other officers to strictly follow the guidelines while implementing various Centrally and State sponsored schemes.
Regarding supply of medicines, the Minister was informed that the department is distributing medicines as per the performance of the institute. He asked the officers to ensure regular supply of medicines to rural areas and work with synergy to overcome the shortcomings.
The Minister directed the Medical Superintendents and other doctors to ensure their stay at their headquarters and do not leave the station without seeking permission from the competent authority. He directed the Director Health Services to monitor the movement of each doctor and organize awareness camps to educate the people about the flagship health programmes and their benefits.
