NEW DELHI : The Members of the Trinamool Congress today raised an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the Government proposal to make Aadhar card compulsory for getting subsidies and other benefits.
The uproar forced the adjournment of the House twice, the second time till 1218 hrs.
The issue was raised during Zero Hour by Mr Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Mr Derek O’Brien of the All India Trinamool Congress and Mr Dilip Tirkey of the BJP.
The Members of the Opposition said the Government has made Aadhar card compulsory for availing benefits of subsidy. However, many people, particularly those from the poor families, were not able to avail the benefits because they did not have an Aadhar card. (AGENCIES)
