RS adjourned sine die; Chairman describes session as ‘productive’

NEW DELHI : The Rajya Sabha was today adjourned sine die after a ‘highly productive’ session which saw the passage of the Constitution (One Hundred Twenty Second) Amendment Bill, 2014 — known as GST Bill — besides discussion of several issues of public importance.
In valedictory remarks, Chairman Hamid Ansari said, “The 240th session of the Rajya Sabha, which commenced on July 18, ends today. The session has been highly productive. There was also debates on several issues of national concern.”
The Chairman said the House had 20 sittings and deliberated for 108 hours.”
Dr Ansari said 14 government Bills were passed during the session, including the Constitution (One Hundred Twenty Second) Amendment Bill, 2014.
He thanked Leader of the House Arun Jaitley, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and leaders of other parties for their support in running the proceedings during the session.
This was followed by playing of a national song.
Thereafter, he adjourned the House sine die. “The House stands adjourned sine die,” Dr Ansari said. (AGENCIES)
