Rs 261 cr spent on 47024 MGNREGA works: Sagar

JAMMU, Mar 12: An amount of Rs. 131.88 crore has been spent under MGNREGA during 2010-11 on completion of 11049 works which has generated 72.91 lakh mandays. Similarly, during 2011-12 an amount of Rs. 314.77 crore has been spent by taking up 25921 works and generating 160 lakh mandays.
During 2012-13 ending January, an amount of Rs. 261.11 crore has been spent by taking up 47024 works and by generating 118.55 lakh mandays.
The information was given by the Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar while replying to a question of Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in Legislative Council today.
The Minister further said that an amount of Rs. 1.15. crore has been allotted to the district Poonch during 2009-10, similarly, an amount of Rs. 2.43 cr, Rs. 13.2 cr and Rs. 20.23 cr has been allotted during the years 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 ending January under Rural Sanitation Scheme.
He also informed the House that initially the incentive was provided to the BPL families for construction of Individual Household Latrine units now, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India has included BPL, identified APL households restricted to SCs / STs, small and marginal farmers, landless labours with home steel, physically handicapped and women headed families as the beneficiaries.
