JAMMU, Dec 31: Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that a whooping amount of Rs 26.10 crore is being utilized for up-gradation and improvement of power infrastructure in border district Poonch under RGGVY, adding that so far Rs 23 crore have been expended for the purpose in the area.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with a deputation which put fourth their demands including up gradation and improvement in overall power scenario in the area.
The deputationists led by Member Legislative Council, Choudary Javid Rana including Sarpanchs, Rafiq Khan, Gulzar Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, Haji Niaz, Ab Quiyam and Khadim Hussain pleaded for construction of Grid Station at Mehander, replacement and improvement of HT and LT lines besides construction of Receiving Station at Dhroti (Balakot).
The Minister gave patient hearing to the deputationists. He said that Government has formulated a detailed project report for construction of Grid Station at Mehander. He said after receiving approval of funds from the Planning and Finance Departments, the work would be started on the Grid Station. He said that construction of receiving Station at Dhroti would be also considered.
The Minister said that under RGGVY 80% works have been completed in the area. He said the leftover areas of the Tehsil would be covered under the benefits of this flagship programme in next phase. He said the power infrastructure of those villages and towns of Mehander having more than 4000 population is being also up graded under R-APDRP.
