JAMMU, Oct 19: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla on Sunday said that flats for rehabilitating the urban poor of city of temples under the centrally sponsored scheme have been completed at Sunjwan and that allotment process by JMC is under progress.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the populace of Sunjan after kickstarting construction work of crossing culvert at Jallalabad, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the complex is completed with the 326 dwelling units, where the State subject urban poor would be rehabilitated under proper norms.
Mr. Bhalla hoped that people will cooperate with executing agencies in effective implementation of development works in their basties. He called upon the people that their development related issues would be redressed in a phased manner, adding that focus of the Government is to develop all the poor basties on modern lines by providing safe drinking water, power, better roads, bye-lanes, drains, besides educational and healthcare infrastructure.
The Minister asked the executing agency to complete all the launched projects in urban poor basties within stipulated time frame for the benefit of general masses, adding that it is the duty of coalition Government to fulfil the aspirations of the people across the state.
The Minister said that the Government has launched various schemes to uplift the socio-economic status of the poor across the state. He said each beneficiary will be provided financial assistance of Rs 2.75 lakh in three installments under State subject urban poor under BSUP.
The Minister said that focused attention is being paid to uplift underprivileged and deprived sections of the society and special schemes have been launched to rehabilitate and improve living standards of underprivileged sections of the society.
Listing the measures taken by the Government in Sunjwan and Bathindi areas, Mr. Bhalla informed that 4 kilometer long Beermeni-Bathindi link road is under progress at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.33 crore besides Rs. 1.5 crore Doongian road is also under progress.
Later, Mr. Bhalla also reviewed progress of upgradation work of recreation parks at Channi Himmat Sector-5 and Sector-4, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 25 lakh. He asked the accompanied Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) to complete illumination, landscaping, drinking water, walkway and viewpoints within stipulated time frame so that the evening and morning walkers could enjoy their spare time there within joy in good environment.
For improving the drinking water supply in deficit areas of Channi Himmat, the Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 10 cr for lying of 54 kilometer water supply pipes in the locality, adding that the project is under progress by ERA.
