Rs 1500 cr earmarked for social services: Rather

BUDGAM, June 27: observing that development and peace initiatives of the present Govt have generated an era of hope and aspiration among the turmoil ravaged people of the State, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said every possible effort is being made to redress the grievances of the people as per their urges. He reiterated Govts commitment to provide all the basic facilities to the people at their door step.
Addressing a public gathering at Pethyar Surisyar in tehsil Chadoora today, Mr Rather said all the available resources are being mobilized and pooled to fulfill promises made to the people and to provide them best possible services. The Govt. has made a provision of Rs. 1579 cr  for social services this fiscal whereas Rs. 652 cr are being spent for general services.
The District Development Commissioner Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Chief Education Officer, Budgam, Nazir Ahmad, Executive Engineer R&B, Chadoora, Sheikh Mohammad senior officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.
Mr Rather said that the basic purpose of conducting tours of far-flung and backward areas along with senior officers and engineers is to make on spot assessment of the problems and demands of the people and seek their solution for the convenience of the people. He said ameliorating the lot of people is the prime concern of the present Govt.
He asked the people to get themselves involved in developmental activities and programs initiated by the Govt. in their respective areas in a big way so as to contribute in reconstruction of the State.
Responding to the charter of demands presented by the locals, Mr Rather announced upgradation and macademization of Kotabal to Pethyar road and Hangoo-Dembal road. He asked the engineers to explore the  possibility of road for linking Kotabal with Brinjan village and Surisyar with Pethyar village.
