JAMMU, July 16: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan today said that PDP-BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was committed to provide better infrastructural facilities to the people across the State and several initiatives in this direction have been initiated.
While chairing a meeting of officers here today, the Minister maintained that the Rural Department will focus on creation of durable assets under various schemes in the rural areas. He said schemes can be dovetailed with the convergence of MGNREGA works with line departments to make best use of funds for creation of durable assets.
Mr Khan said that Rs 120 crore have been released to clear the previous liabilities under MGNREGA and called upon the officers to ensure that timely wages are being released to the job seekers in lieu of work done in a transparent manner.
Emphasizing on the Clean and Green Mission, the Minister announced that a state wide campaign is being launched under the title “Mera Gaon Mera Jahan” to sensitize general masses about cleanliness of individual as well as village surroundings in a mission mode. Under the mission, different activities to promote the schemes will be undertaken with the involvement of various stakeholders. The Mission will be launched by administering mass pledge/oath to all the participants to carry out the activities in a regular basis.
Among others Director Rural Development, Jammu M L Raina, ADDCs of all the Districts of Jammu division, ACDs, Project Officers IWMP and DRDA, XEns and DPOs of Jammu Division were present.
