RPU elects its body, discusses demands

JAMMU, Oct 7:  Narinder Gupta (Secretary PCC) was  elected  as  chairman of  Rehri and Phari Union (RPU) of Jewel Chowk and Canal Road, Jammu, un-opposed.
In this connection  a general body meeting  of Rehri & Phari Union  of  Jewel Chowk and Canal Road Jammu was  held at GGM Science College and election process was conducted in a peaceful manner. After the election,  Narinder Gupta was declared chairman (unopposed) whereas   Om Parkash was declared as president,  Sudagar Mal as vice president,  Rakesh Kumar as general secretary,  Naresh Kumar as secretary and  Ravinder Kumar as Treasurer of the Union.
Speaking on the occasion  Narinder Gupta  highlighted problems of Rehri and Phari workers. He said that they earn their livelihood by doing hard labour but their miseries do no end there. They have to face the problems being imposed upon them by the civic administration from time to time and major chunk of their earning goes waste. He pledged himself and asked other functionaries of the Union to work selflessly for the welfare of Rehri-Phari workers.
He further said  that the  Street Vendors Policy  passed by the UPA Government has been implemented in many States but not in our State. He demanded that it should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, immediately.
He  also appealed to the Rehri-Phari workers to ensure the cleanliness of the surrounding areas of their work place, so that the general public may not feel any hygienic problem
The election of other office bearers of Union was also held smoothly.
