MENDHAR, Nov 18: While the consumers generally allege shortage of ration in the remote and rural areas of the region, about 60 gunny bags of rotten ration (Atta) from local CAPD store was thrown into nallah and fields by the CAPD staff.
The issue became talk of the town when people noticed filled and semi-filled and torn bags of rotten flour (Atta) lying in the open. It was lying hardly 100 mts away from a CAPD store located in four private shops at Shangala Chowk. Some bags were thrown into a nallah near Animal Husbandry office.
Sources said that the free ration which was meant for distribution among flood affected people of Mendhar area was not provided to many victims despite hue and cry. It was pilfered by insiders and a large quantity of it remained lying in the CAPD stores at Mendhar and developed foul smell and went rotten. Last night the storekeeper and other staff dumped this rotten in the open fields and at the bank of nallah. The local Administration has taken serious note of the issue and ordered probe.
While TSO Mendhar, Zameer Mirza expressed ignorance over the matter and denied having thrown out ration from stores, Assistant Director CAPD Poonch, Mohd Naseeb said that he would take serious note of the issue.
Minister for CAPD Ch Zulfkar Ali, however, said that matter has just came to his notice and he would hold an inquiry into the matter as to why this ration remained undisbursed to the consumers and allowed to be damaged. Whosoever, is found guilty, stern action will be taken against him, Mr Ali said.
