Rote learning

Sir,
I would like to draw the kind attention of teachers about the concern of rote learning in both private and Government schools. Education is regarded to be the most important thing in life.Parents get their children admitted in schools which may be Private or Government Schools. However what the children are taught by their teachers at times ruins their careers .This takes place due to rote learning that some teachers use while imparting education. The day a student gets admitted in school he/she is instructed to memorise words, sentences, paragraphs, essays, etc in order to get through.Students who get more than 90 percent marks by using this method are called intelligent.
This rote learning is very common in private schools in our J&K State. It continues throughout the schooling. It is much later that people realize that more than 13 years were wasted in rote learning, remembering answers and not the development of our faculties. Rote learning is an evil in education and should be stamped down or else it will ruin the careers and better prospects of thousands of innocent students. Last but not least, it is requested to teaching faculty of J&K State to avoid Rote learning but teach in such a way that the students fully understand questions and anwers. Besides, individual attention should be given to the students.
