JAMMU, Jan 8: MLA Akhnoor, Rajeev Sharma today honoured meritorious students in an impressive function organized by Rotary Club Akhnoor at Mahajan Hall, Akhnoor.
Those who were honoured were meritorious students of Class 10th Examination held during session 2015-16 by J&K Board of School Education. Besides, students who secured 1st three positions in Akhnoor zone namely Kritika Sharma, Priya Rani and Anku Sharma were specially honored and given awards.
Rajeev Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, in his address lauded the role of Rotary Club Akhnoor in encouraging the school going children by felicitating them suitably.
Maintaining that in the present era the main focus is laid on the children to secure maximum marks and to become engineer and doctors after the studies, the MLA said that side by side moral education should also be imparted, which is essential for overall progress of youth.
Asking students to work hard to achieve success, Rajeev said that there is no alternative for hard work which pays in the long run. He said that education is the only tool which change the social economy profile of an individual and the society and asked the students particularly girls to devote themselves for archiving the goals.
Earlier in his welcome address, president of Rotary Club Akhnoor, Ashish Mahajan, highlighted the purpose of organizing the function, which he said, is only to encourage and appreciate the meritorious students of Class 10th in Akhnoor zone.
Pawan Gupta conducted the whole proceedings along with Dr Romesh Kashyap Mani while Rajesh Bhalla, the project chairman, proposed the vote of thanks.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Secretary of Rotary Club Akhnoor, Sunil Sharma and other Rotarians including Shiv Gupta, Surinder Anand, Virender Gupta, prominent citizens and students of various Government and private institutions of Education Zone Akhnoor.
