JAMMU, Jan 3: Romesh Khajuria, Chairman of the Wool and Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textile, Government of India inaugurated Silk Fav Exhibition cum sale festival for Silk Handloom fabric here, today.
The organizers announced 20 percent flat discount on all products for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In this exhibition, weavers from all over the country have showcased the clothes woven and decorated by hands.
The visitors can see the Tusar silk of Bhagalpur, Bihar, Kani silk of Jammu and Kashmir, Baluchari silk of West Bengal, Banarasi Silk of Uttar Padesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan , Orissa and many more other silks in the exhibition.
Silk sarees, salwar suit, shawls and especially crafted handloom items are the specialty in the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, Romesh Khajuria said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Government is investing a lot to revive the handloom sector.
He said Government is promoting the handicraft which can generate employment and also boost economy of the people. Khajuria urged the youth that instead of looking towards the Government job they should turn up towards the opening of their own entrepreneurships.
He said the youth should come forward and take advantage of various Government schemes under Startups.
He said handloom and handicraft sector has lot of potential and it can boost the rural economy of the UT. He asked the youth to take the advantage of various Government schemes in this regard and stressed on paying special attention to handloom and handicrafts of J&K.
