Rohit shatters Viv Richards 37-year old record

PERTH: Coming to the tour in a poor form, Rohit Sharma’s  played a brilliant unbeaten 171 runs knock to break Vivian Richards record of  highest ODI score by a visiting batsman in Australia versus Australia.

The 28-year-old’s 169 run knock was the highest score by a visiting batsman against Australia. Earlier it was by West Indies batting legend Viv Richards unbeaten 153 in 1979 in Melbourne.

Rohit, whose 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 remains the highest individual score in the 50-over format is the only batsman to score two double hundreds in ODIs. His innings were studded with 13 fours and 7 sixes. (AGENCIES)
