JAMMU, Feb 13: In order to bring the problem of traffic in Jammu city in the notice of concerned officers, Retired Officer Forum (ROF), Jammu, today organized an awareness camp at Bharat Scouts & Guide Office near Dusshera Ground, Gandhi Nagar.
ID Soni, president of the Forum presided over the function and SC Rekhi, secretary, conducted the proceedings.
Mohan Lal, presently posted as SP Traffic, Jammu, was the special invitee. He informed the members that the Government had devised long term and short term strategies to deal with the problem, of which Government is aware of and very serious to deal.
He informed that as a short term measure, heavy fines are being imposed on violators of traffic signals, belt wearing, talking on mobile phone while driving, challaning of mini-buses and seizure of audio systems and challaning of autos plying without meters and charging excess fares.
“In the long term, identifications and marking of parking places, construction of multistoried parking etc were envisaged”, he said.
