NEW DELHI, Aug 17: Chana prices shot up by 1.81 per cent to Rs 5,620 per quintal in futures market today as traders built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand at the spot market.
In addition, restricted supplies from producing regions supported the upmove.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October jumped by Rs 100, or 1.81 per cent, to Rs 5,620 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,310 lots.
Likewise, the commodity for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 98, or 1.79 per cent, to Rs 5,585 per quintal in 13,980 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices in futures trade to fresh positions created by participants, taking positive cues from spot market on upsurge in demand. (PTI)
