Robbers loot gold, cash from dry-fruit merchant’s house

JAMMU, May 27: Robbers struck in the house of prominent dry-fruit merchant at Mohalla Partap Garh area and decamped with gold jewellery weighting around 300 tolas and cash over Rs 22 lakh.
As per police sources, robbers struck in the house of prominent dry-fruit merchant Kamal Gupta at Mohalla Partap Garh during the intervening night of May 26 and 27. The thieves decamped with gold jewellery and cash after breaking open the locks of over three rooms in the house.
Kamal Gupta along with his brothers is running a dry-fruit showroom in Raghunath Bazar on the name and style “Chuni Lal Amar Nath–dry fruit merchant”.
The theft was noticed by family members today morning, who informed the police. After getting information, police rushed to the spot.
A case in this regard has been registered at City police station and investigation started.
Talking to the Excelsior, Kamal Gupta said that the loss in this theft case is more than Rs 1.5 crore including jewellery items weighing around 300 tolas, over Rs 22 lakh cash and electronic gadgets including mobiles and laptops.
When contacted SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan said that a case in this regard has been registered and investigation started. The culprits will be behind the bars soon, he claimed.
