JAMMU, May 22: Radio Kashmir Jammu (RKJ) today organized a music concert – “Surmayee Shaam – Aapke Naam” at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
The audience was left spellbound as the best performers of Jammu like Suraj Singh, Deepali Wattal, Dharmesh Nargotra, Sonali Dogra, Naina Sapru and Kiran Kaul gave a clinical display of their talent in a concert that lasted over two hours.
The Programme Head, Radio Kashmir Jammu, Renu Raina presented the welcome address. The concert was set into motion with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest S K Gupta (Additional Commissioner, Income Tax, Jammu) and guest of honour, Vinod Kumar Gupta (Executive Director, CCDU, Department of PHE) in the presence of Additional Secretary, JKAACL, Amrinder Aman, V K Sambyal, Shaminder Kumar and Suman Pal (Ex- Directors of AIR; and other dignitaries.
The event began with Kashmiri melodies sung by Naina Sapru and Kiran Kaul who ably justified the wordings penned down by the famous poets Mehmood Gami and Bal Krishan Sanyasi. This was followed by spectacular presentation by Sonali Dogra whose performance on legendary poets K S Madhukar and Padma Sachdev’s “Mindiya Gudayee Baithi…” and “Nikkade Fangdu Ucchi Udaan…” respectively left the audience spellbound.
Dharmesh Nargotra, Deepali Wattal and Suraj Singh enthralled the audience with their vibrant performances – “Roz Taaron Ki Numayeesh mein…”, “Donon JahaanTeri Mohabbat mein…”, “Kitaabon Mein Jo Likha Hai…”, etc.
The hall was witness to the presence of large number of music lovers cutting across cross section of society including large number of music lovers of Jammu.
The proceedings of the music concert were conducted by senior announcer of RKJ Madhvi Sharma. The whole event was co-ordinated by I/C Music Section Rajesh Gupta, Programme Executive and the compositions were supervised by Sami Feroz.
The concert was part of series of programmes under “Special Programming for Stations in J&K” which are planned to spread throughout the year in various formats. The recording of this concert shall be broadcast on the State Hookup in near future.
