Ritvik murder case: Role of family of main accused being probed

JAMMU, May 27: In the murder case of a 14-year-old boy namely Ritvik, whose decomposed and mutilated body was recovered from a vacant plot in Chatha area of city outskirts, Satwari police has detained one of the friends of the deceased boy, who is the main accused in the case.
According to police sources, the deceased boy and the accused namely Vikrant (name changed) were good friends for last one and a half year and on the day Ritvik went missing, the Ritvik and Vikrant had talked to each other on phone and this was established by call detail records of the mobile numbers used by both.
“During interrogation, the accused who is also a minor (15-years-old) has confessed to crime,” sources said, adding the murder was done by him to get costly phone of the deceased which he had hidden at some place after committing the crime but was recovered by the police later.
Sources said as the body of the deceased was mutilated and burnt with acid, it is hard to believe that Vikrant did the crime alone, so police is investigating in ever aspect and is probing the role of Vikrant’s family members as parents of the deceased has also leveled allegations against the family members of the Vikrant.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer told Excelsior that the investigation of the case is on right track and very soon they will solve the case.
