BENGALURU, Aug 7: In a historic musical achievement, Ricky Kej has set a new Guinness World Record by recording 14,000 tribal children performing the National Anthem of India. This monumental feat follows last year’s groundbreaking event where Kej conducted the largest-ever Symphony Orchestra performance of the anthem with a 100-member Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, London. Scheduled for release on Independence Day, this record-breaking performance celebrates India’s rich cultural heritage and unity. The project features a staggering number of young voices from diverse tribal communities, underscoring the nation’s deep-rooted traditions and harmonious spirit. The performance is further distinguished by the participation of some of India’s most renowned musicians. Among them is the legendary PanditHariprasadChaurasia, whose virtuosity with the bansuri has enchanted audiences worldwide. His nephew, Bansuri Maestro Rakesh Chaurasia, adds to the ensemble’s brilliance, having recently won two Grammy Awards for his contributions to music. The performance also includes Santoor virtuoso Rahul Sharma, known for his innovative and soulful interpretations, and Sarod superstars Amaan and Ayaan, who bring a dynamic blend of tradition and modernity. The Nadaswaram maestros Sheikh and KaleeshabiMahaboob contribute their distinctive southern Indian sound, while Veena virtuoso JayanthiKumaresh and Ghatam maestro GiridharUdupa provide intricate rhythms. Kej’s initiative to bring together 14,000 tribal children highlights India’s unity and diversity, making this project a celebration of the nation’s cultural and musical legacy.
