JAMMU, July 5: Kargil Shaheed Udhay Maan Singh who attained martyrdom on July 5, 1999 at Tiger Hill while fighting against the Pakistani forces in Drass Sector of Kargil was paid rich tributes at Shama Chak area of Marh in Jammu district today.
BJP State president, Ravinder Raina, former Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Jammu Bar president, Advocate Abhinav Sharma, BJP State vice-president, Kr. Narayan Singh along with large number of locals paid floral tributes to Kargil Shaheed at his native village Shama Chak. Udhay Maan Singh was the brave soldier of 18 Granadier Indian Army who recaptured Tiger Hill and during the gun fight at Tiger Hill, he killed about 20 Pakistani soldiers before laying down his life on July 5, 1999.
Just 18 years of age Udhay Maan showed highest level of bravery and fought like a great warrior, he was posthumously conferred with Sena Medal also.
Speaking on this occasion, BJP State president, Ravinder Raina said nation is proud of the brave hearts those made supreme sacrifices and attained martyrdom for sake of mother India. Raina said the jawan like Udhay Maan showed exemplary bravery and valor in hitting out the Pakistani forces from Kargil.
He said Indian Army is the best force in the world because of the commitment, dedication and nationalism of its jawans. He said “we are living freely because our Jawans are alert on borders and discharging supreme duty for the country”.
Raina asked the youth to follow the path of patriotism and work for the motherland as Shaheed Udhay Maan did for our country.
Former Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Kr. Narayan Singh, Adv Abhinav Sharma also paid tributes to the Kargil martyr on the occasion.
Kanta Devi mother of Shaheed Udhay Maan Singh and father Onkar Singh also paid tributes to their martyr son. The JAKLI regiment of Indian Army also participated in the function and paid tributes to the brave heart.
