Rich tribute paid to fallen heroes on Kargil Vijay Diwas

JAMMU, July 26: Different organisations here today celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas and paid rich tribute to the fallen heroes of Kargil War.
NSS Unit of GCOE Jammu organised an online poem recitation and singing competition to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas. Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal, GCOE Jammu appreciated the efforts of NSS team, especially NSS PO Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, for organising the event and for motivating students to remember the sacrifices of armed forces.
The NCC units of GDC Paloura, namely, 2 J&K NCC Boys Bn and 2 J&K NCC Girls Bn in collaboration with History Department celebrated 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Arun Sharma said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is more than an occasion of remembrance. The whole programme was organized by Dr. Chinmei Sharma and Prof. (Lt.) Arun Sharma under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal GDC Paloura.
NCC Units of Government Degree College Kathua commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas under the patronage of Dr. Savi Behl, Principal of the College. A series of programmes were organised and homage was paid to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation during Kargil War. The event was conducted under the supervision of Lt. (Dr.) Daya Ram, ANO, 4 JK NCC BN, Prof. Ajay Sharma, CTO, 1 J&K NCC Naval Unit and Dr. Anil Sharma, HoD Horticulture Technology.
Tribute to Kargil martyrs were paid at Zila Sainik Board Kathua and also at Shaheedi Chowk Kathua in the presence of MLA Kathua, SSP Kathua, veterans and dignitaries.
GDC Vijaypur organised an online quiz competition on Kargil Vijay Diwas. NSS unit (KHIDMAT) of GDC Vijaypur organized the quiz on the theme ‘Operation Vijay’ under the aegis of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The celebrations were guided by the Principal of the College, Dr. (Prof.) Ashu Vashisht.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, GDC R.S Pura paid rich tribute to the brave soldiers of Kargil War by organising a poster-making competition. The event was inaugurated by Principal (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, who said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a reminder of the valour and sacrifice of our soldiers.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Army Public School Akhnoor hosted Major D.P Singh-Kargil war hero, India’s first blade runner and a living embodiment of courage, resilience and determination. Major Singh, who was grievously injured during the Kargil War and subsequently underwent amputation, redefined the essence of perseverance by emerging as one of India’s most acclaimed para-athletes. Geeta Devi, Principal of the School said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a moment of immense pride and deep inspiration. Brig Ankur Banga, Chairman, APS Akhnoor, also commended Major Singh’s unwavering efforts in motivating the youth of the nation.
Army Public School Rakhmuthi commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with great zeal and patriotic fervour and organised an inter-class painting competition on the theme ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’. Chairman of the School commended the efforts of the students and teachers for organising such an inspiring programme.
Doon International School, Jammu celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas with patriotism and organised events like awareness on Operation Sindoor. The event was graced by Brigadier Sumeet Sharma, Colonel Livin V. Koottungal and Major Gurdeep Singh. The guests were welcomed by the Principal, Dr. Vikesh Kaur. Brigadier Sumeet Sharma urged the students to embrace discipline, resilience and a spirit of service. Major Gurdeep Singh shared valuable insights about Operation Sindoor. Chairman G.N Tantray, Vice Chairman M.A Tantray, Directors Leesan Ul Nabi and Ehsaan Ul Nabi, Vice Principal Dr. Sarita Moza Kaul, Academic Heads Gazia Khan and Silma Sehrish, Headmistress Shivali Singh Pathania and Chief Coordinator Surinder Singh were also present on the occasion. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Vice Principal Dr. Sarita Moza Kaul.
Humanity Public School paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of Indian soldiers who fought in Kargil war (1999) by celebrating the Kargil Vijay Diwas with a special assembly. Candle tribute to honour the martyrs was paid by Principal Gaurav Charak accompanied by Vice Principal Anku Charak, Administrative Officer Ravinder Sadhu and Administrative Incharge Akashdeep Raina.
Unique International Public School celebrated Vijay Diwas with great zeal and patriotism. Chairman of the School, Jasbir Singh emphasized the significance of Vijay Diwas and encouraged the students to imbibe the values of bravery and dedication towards the nation.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Aydemy Foundation organized a grand event at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal to honour the sacrifices of India’s brave soldiers. The programme began with lighting of ceremonial lamp by Rajesh Kumar, Founder, Aydemy Foundation and Harpreet Kour, Principal, Bhalwal and Gharota Schools. A theatrical drama was staged on this occasion. Rajesh Kumar spoke about the importance of skill development for the students in today’s competitive world. The event concluded with a two-minute silence in honour of the brave soldiers.
BJP J&K celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas across various districts of J&K remembering the valour and supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers during Kargil War. BJP J&K president, Sat Sharma led a Mashaal March along with general secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan, and MLA Yudhvir Sethi.
In Kashmir, BJP general secretary (organization), Ashok Koul paid heartfelt tribute to the martyr soldiers of Kargil War.
Union MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh led a Padyatra in Bani area and offered emotional tribute to the fallen heroes of Kargil War.
At Sainik Colony, Jammu, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP J&K vice-president, Rajeev Charak, general secretary, Baldev Billawaria, MLA Ch. Vikram Randhawa, district president Naresh Singh and others paid floral tribute to the martyrs of Kargil War.
BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha led by its president, Dharminder Kumar (DDC), celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas with great enthusiasm and reverence at Dr. B.R Ambedkar Chowk in Jammu. MLA Ramgarh, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Bishnah Dr Rajiv Bhagat and MLA Marh Surinder Bhagat highlighted the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the indomitable spirit of the Indian soldiers.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Braham Jyot Satti, president BJP OBC Morcha J&K along with Abhay Kumar Mahajan (Co-Convenor J&K BJP Senior Citizen Cell), Sunny Prajapati district secretary BJP and BJP workers paid tribute to brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation during Kargil War. The commemorative event was organised by Rampal Mehra at Balidan Stambh in Jammu.
To mark Kargil Vijay Diwas, BJP organised a Tiranga Rally in Ramban. A large number of BJP office bearers and workers led by former MLA and district president BJP Ramban, Neelam Kumar Langeh paid homage to the Kargil Martyrs.
My Bharat Doda, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports organized special programs at two venues to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay homage to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during 1999 Kargil War. At District Police Line, Doda, My Bharat volunteers offered floral tribute to Kargil martyrs by garlanding their portraits. Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh graced the occasion as chief guest and appreciated My Bharat’s efforts in channelizing youth energy towards nation-building. “The energy of the youth of Doda reflects the unwavering respect for our armed forces and martyrs,” said MLA Shakti Parihar.
Members of Inner Wheel Club Jammu Sampark participated in Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations at Balidan Stambh to pay their respectful homage to bravehearts who laid down their lives defending their nation. Rattan Prabha, president of the Club, vice president Kusum Kesar, charter president Reva Raina and other Club members paid homage by offering floral tribute at Balidan Satambh.
National Mazdoor Conference under the leadership of its president Subash Shastri commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas. Shastri along with activists of NMC paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Kargil.
All J&K Megh Sabha celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas to mark India’s victory over Pakistan. On this occasion Narinder Datt, Sabha president said the bravery and devotion for the motherland displayed by our soldiers in Kargil war still continues to inspire the whole nation.
During Kargil Vijay Divas celebrations, GOC Cross Swords Division invited porters of Tanda Tiger Force at Tanda Cantonment along with Veer Naris of Op Vijay, for sharing their glorious moments during the Kargil War. It may be recalled that during Kargil War, over 2500 youth of Jammu, exhorted by Th. K.P Singh of Tanda laboured shoulder to shoulder with Infantry Units and acted as force multiplier as they even brought down martyrs’ body bags. Their voluntary services were widely acknowledged and rewarded.GOC also interacted with Th. K.P Singh who raised Tanda Tiger Force. About 7 porters made supreme sacrifice for their country’s sovereignty in Kargil War. Veer Naris were commended for courageously accepting their brave husbands’ sacrifices, sending their sons to the Army and be respectable members of the society. Veer Nari Sharda Bahu, DDC Member was also present on this occasion.
Kargil Diwas was celebrated at Azmat-e-Hind Crossing Bridge at LOC Teetwal in Karnah with great enthusiasm. A large number of Yatris of Sharda Temple also took part in the celebrations. The event was presided over by Dy. Commander of 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade, CO Mahar Unit.
The Indian Army’s Surya Command (Central Command) observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at Pacific Mall Dehradun, to honour the valour and sacrifice of soldiers who secured India’s victory in the Kargil War of 1999. The major highlights of the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration included photo exhibition, signature wall campaign – ‘I Support Indian Army’, ‘Know your Army’ exhibition etc.
