Revoke order on freezing DA of Govt employees, pensioners: NMC

JAMMU, Feb 4: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged upon Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to revoke earlier order on freezing DA of Government employees and pensioners from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 and announcement in this regard be made by the Finance Minister in the ongoing session of parliament.
In a meeting NMC President, Subash Shastri and other said that Government should recognise the contribution of these employees who braved Corona pandemic and kept on performing their duties.
He pointed out that dearness relief is not wage increase but is compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living and inflation and this is the only source with employees and pensioners to cater the dearness needs.
He further said that freezing of DA will severely impact the life of salaried class and pensioners.
The NMC leader also urged upon J&K LG, Manoj Sinha to ensure timely disbursement of pending wages of daily wagers and hoped that J&K government shall also earmark separate wage heads for regular disbursement of monthly salary of the daily wagers till their regularization.
He also demanded implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K.
Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Ramesh Sharma, Tarsem Sharma, Gardhari Lal Bhagat, Darshan Bawa, Gara Ram, J.P Sharma and Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh also spoke on the occasion.
