Revised proposal for PoK, Chhamb DPs to be submitted to Centre: Bukhari

Jammu, Apr 10: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that the State Government has submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Union Government for one time full and final settlement of the claims of PoK displaced persons (DPs) and Chhamb displaced persons.
While replying to a question of Charanjit Singh in the Legislative Council today he said that the State Government is contemplating to take steps to respond to the queries of Union Government and accordingly the revised proposal will be placed before the State Cabinet for approval before resubmitting the same to the Union Government, that too, as per the assurance in the Common Minimum Programme of the present dispensation.
The minister further said that the one of the components of the package has been proposed for the left out Displaced Persons if any, and if the package is approved as proposed, the registration of left out families will be initiated. The displaced persons include 31,619 families of 1947, 4061 families of 1965, 9442 families of 1971 and 9823 families of West Pakistani Refugees, he added.
