Apropos “Revamping of education” by Dr. Rajshree Dhar dated 13th Nov, 2017. Travelogue of infinity & zero was mesmerizing. Enumerating key tasks in revamping our education and coming from an academician, a researcher and above all a mathemtician adds a great deal of genuiness and sense of urgency to the implementation of offered suggestions. But the moot point that remains is whether the powers that be would be willing to loosen ther control over the “system” and leave the course correction in the hands of those who are best suited for the job, i.e scholars, academicians of great eminence and researchers and/or administrators with proven administrative skills & impartiality. Till that sense creeps into the minds of ruling class both at the state or the national level any genuine and positive change in the education system would remain a utopia or a mirage.
