Revamping Congress Party

Sir,
This is in reference to Amit Kushari’s -Revamp The Congress Party,(Excelsior; 01 February).
From the title, one expects that the writer has something special to say about rejuvenating the Congress which is certainly facing a tough time.Mr Kushari however says virtually nothing about what the Congress leadership should do to bring back the party on its rails and make it represent the aspirations of the masses.Kushari says more about the BJP and eulogises it beyond proportion. One can only infer that he suggests the Congress to play the communal card as ( in his opinion) no party in India can rule with out appeasing the Hindu majority. His every word smells of sectarianism and majoritarianism. It is disrespect to the Prime Minister of secular India if we call him “an undisputed leader of the Hindus of India”.Modi as P.M is the leader of all the Indian citizens. We do have Hindu majority but we are not a theocracy like Pakistan. As far as anti conversion law is concerned, there is no harm in having one, provided it is not misused and is used only against those, who use force to convert people. In fact normal laws too will take care of it.
It is a retrogessive approach to divide people on religious lines.Let us unite them rather than divide them. Please restrict the religion in all its forms and nomenclatures to one’s individual and spiritual needs and do not base politics on it.It  does not suit the modern times.World has already undergone a hell of trouble by political religion and religious politics.
It pains when Kushari even divides an individual like Rajiv Gandhi into two religious entities.
Congress is in doldrums not because it professes secularism as Kushari would make us to believe; it is because it failed to provide transparent, corruption free and effective good governance. It also depends heavily on dynastic magic.
Congress can revive itself if it comes out of the dynastic cocoon, transforms itself in to a genuine secular force, cleanse its inner house, shuns appeasement  in all forms and forges strong unity with all the vibrant and progressive forces.
Yours etc…..
