JAMMU, Aug 19: Demanding release of their pending salary for the last eight months, a number of ReT teachers held a strong protest demonstration near Press club, here today.
The protesting ReTs, who were raising slogans against the Government and in support of their demand, tried to take out a rally but were stopped by Police. It ensued a push and throw battle between the protesters and cops during which some ReTs sustained minor injuries.
Earlier, addressing the protest demonstration, leaders of Jammu Kashmir Rehber-e-Taleem Teachers Forum said that despite their repeated requests to the Education as well as Finance Department, around 60 thousand ReT teachers were waiting for their salary for the last eight months.
Alleging delay in regularization of ReTs and KGBV ReTs also, they threatened Assembly gherao at Srinagar if their demands are not conceded within a week.
Those who addressed the protest demonstration included Bhupinder Singh, Nenu Lata, Jahanger Khan, Arvind Sharma, Aftab Tantray, Ahmed Khan, Khalid Khan, Rajesh Singh, Meena Kumari, Mushtaq Malik, Tariq Hussain, Shiv Dev, Kuldeep Sudesh, Aftab Malik, Majeeb Malik, Shabaz Khan, Hanif Shah, Joginder, Farooq Ronyal, Waseem-ul-Hassan, Surinder Singh, Kamal Jeet, Rashpal, Arshad Choudhary, Asif Choudhary and others.
