JAMMU, May 20:  Up in arms against un-necessary delay in regularization of the Rehbar-e-Taleem, who have completed five years in service, a large number of ReTs today held a strong protest demonstration in front of the Directorate of School Education, Jammu.
Agitating under the banner of All J&K ReT Teachers Forum, the protesting Rehbar-e-Taleem raised slogans in support of their demands and staged a dharna, which was addressed by the Forum leaders. ReT Teachers from all the districts of Jammu participated in the protest demonstration.
While addressing the dharna, the Forum president Vinod Sharma lambasted the State Government and the Education Department for their alleged biased approach towards ReT fraternity. He said that regularization of ReTs, who have completed five years service, was going at snail’s pace as many files of regularization were gathering dust in the Directorate. “These files are rejected by raising unjustified objections for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities,” he alleged.
The protesting ReTs were also demanding regularization of Distance mode degree holders of UGC recognized universities,  regularization of ReTs with less enrolment, regularization of KGBV Teachers and surplus Education Volunteers,  streamlining of SSA salary, which has been  pending for the last 5 to 7 months, release of pending arrears, transfer policy in favour of regularized ReTs as per the direction of High Court and   provision of SRO 43 in favour of ReTs during their 5 years initial period.
The Forum general secretary, Najam, while speaking on the occasion, warned that the ReTs would lock their schools and go on indefinite strike if their demands are not conceded.
Others who spoke, included Sukhdev Singh, Naresh Sharma, Lekh Raj Parihar, Gulzabair Daing, Sajjad Malik, Manzoor Khan, Sukesh Khajuria, Sham Sharma, Subash Chander, Balwan Singh, Mahesh Kumar, Rinku Sharma, Tahir Masood, Hamiet Wani, Reshi Singh Rana, Surjit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Shahnawaz Hussain and  Ashok Seth.
