ReTs observe strike, demand timely regularization

SRINAGAR, June 6: Thousands of Government Teacher observed a day-long strike across Kashmir to press the Government for their regularization of Education Volunteers (EV’s) and Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers.
The teachers said that they were selected in every village and Mohallah on merit basis during the PDP and Congress Coalition Government and were promised that EV’s will be converted ReTs after two years of service on monthly stipend of Rs 1250. “In this regard Government released orders on different times, viz order number edu/acad/15/2006 dated 16-03-2006; Dsak/plg/up-grd/EGS-ps/2007; Edu/spd/ssa/up-grd/7800/902 dated 16-03-2007”, they said.
The peaceful protesting teachers alleged that the Government is showing delaying tactics and are not implementing these orders.
The protesting teachers said that they will peacefully hold protest in every block of the State to press the Government to fulfill their genuine demands.
