Retirement of politicians

Sir,
This has reference to the news item’Political leaders should quit active posts at 70 years’ Aug 29.
The senior Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi is off the mark when he said that people in politics should not continue in active posts beyond 70 years of age. Rather he should have pleaded for retirement after 70 years. There is age limit for public servants holding responsible posts in Government, no such age limit exists for politicians.
Come, what may, politicians want to remain in or the near the corridors of power till they are willing to. This satisfies their ego though it may not earn them esteem in the eyes of general public.
Though it would be utterly unacceptable to treat them with contempt at the fag end of their careers,  the younger generation of leaders should make their exit quite graceful. After all the old guards have made may sacrifices in building their respective organizations. The party veterans should not feel disappointed on leaving their party posts, rather should be happy to make way for people who can infuse fresh life in the organisation they have worked for.
Yours etc….
