JAMMU, Sept 5: In support of their long pending demands retired police personnel held protest demonstration near Press Club here today.
The retired Police personnel under banner of All J&K Retd Police Personnel NGO & Ors Forum assembled near Press Club here in the morning and held brief protest. Ajit Singh, president of the organization was leading the protest.
They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. The agitating retired Police men alleged that despite many representations to the senior officers in the Government their issues remained un resolved and they have been forced to come out on the road to agitate.
They pointed out that pay anomaly in Police department in the rank of ASIs, Head Constables and Selection Grade Constables besides Constables in the year 1996 under SRO 14, 5th Pay Commission was released for all J&K employees but no relief has been granted to J&K Police particularly from Constable to ASI rank so far. Inspite of giving pay hike, their pay has been reduced. They claimed that Govt order No. 229-F of 2014 dated Oct 17, 2014 was unacceptable to them.
They further demanded that Health Care Policy to the retired Police personnel on the pattern of Army and Para-Military forces be implemented. In the recruitment of their wards, 15 % quota be provided in Police department jobs. One rank one pension ordinance should also be implemented in the Police Department and they should be treated at par with CRPF.
