He quoted a Government order of the year 2014 regarding anomaly which gives effect prospectively (that is from the date of order).
However, the protesters demanded that the effect should be given from the year 1996 when the fifth pay commission was implemented throughout the State but only the police department was left out.
The protesters also quoted some pay anomaly committees which gave their opinion from time to time in this regard.
A handout stated that Finance Department had sought clarification from the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the pay anomalies to retiree ASIs and Head Constables and the DGP office in turn had replied that an amount of Rs 5,93,25000 should be released to ASIs and Head Constables.
