JAMMU, Apr 20:  Expressing serious concern over unprecedented delay in release of their salary and purported refusal of the Central Government to release balanced funds under SSA as well as RMSA, J&K ReT Teachers Forum has threatened to further intensify stir for the salary.
The Forum also feared that the aggrieved ReT teachers, who are without salary for the months together, may resort to extreme step of committing suicide in view of multiplying debt on them for supporting their families.
“The State Government will be responsible for any such untoward incidents as our ReT teachers are extremely frustrated over non release of their salary since months and increased debt on them,” said Vinod Sharma, president of the J&K ReT Teachers Forum, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He lamented that despite repeated pleas to the Education Minister and the Finance Minister, who have been apprised of their grievance a number of times, nothing was done by the Government in this regard. “We also held peaceful protest demonstrations to highlight out plights but still the salaries of 6 to 12 months have not been released,” he added.
While referring to the media reports that the Central Government has refused to release the remaining funds under SSA and RMSA for the financial year 2014-15, Vinod Sharma urged the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to make an immediate statement over the fate of their pending salary and release the same without further delay.
“We don’t want to adopt an agitational path but this Government is forcing us to take to streets,” he said and announced that future course of action of the Forum would be chalked out soon.
Younis Rahi, Rajesh Jamwal, Naresh Sharma, Sukh Dev, Sukesh Khajuria and Lekh Raj Parihar were also present in the press conference.
