JAMMU, May 27: J&K ReT Teachers’ Forum today announced to hold Statewide protests from June 4 onwards for delinking of SSA salary which has become a crucial issue due to which thousands of SSA teachers of the State are suffering badly.
This was announced in monthly meetings of J&K ReT Teachers’ Forum, held at Jammu and Srinagar simultaneously under the chairmanship of State president Vinod Sharma and State Chairman Gazi Abdul Aziz, respectively. The meetings at both the provinces was attended by State executive body and district presidents.
While issuing the call, Vinod Sharma said that on May 12, Education Minister framed a committee headed by MoS Education Shakti Raj Parihar to find out the permanent solution of SSA salary within 15 days. “We anxiously waited for 15 days and majority of ReT teachers didn’t indulge in any confrontation, but today on the last date after the stipulated period (15 days), no blueprint has been shared by the committee thereby forcing ReTs to announce agitational programme,” he added.
He said that J&K ReT Teachers’ Forum has given one week ultimatum to the Government to resolve this issue and if it fails to delink the SSA salary from source of funding till June 3, 2018 , the ReTs will hold State wide protests from June 4,2018 onwards indefinitely and for this extreme step the Government would be personally responsible. “We were assured by Education Minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali at Jammu that if within 15 days, he fail to resolve this issue, he would be sitting with us on protest and we want to remind the Minister that 15 days have completed and problem is as it’s and we urge him to choose the date of protest,” he said.
State senior vice chairman Najam Jafri, speaking on the occasion, appealed all the ReTs of the State to remain united and take part in protests beginning from 4 June onwards as the Government has forced them to take such decision even they have no such intention. Others who also spoke on the occasion, included Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, Naresh Sharma, Mahesh Kumar, Raj Kumar Dubey, Sham Sharma, Lekh Raj Parihar and others.
