SRINAGAR: The delegation of ReT teachers from Gurez led by Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today called on Minister of Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and requested for promotion benefits for scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
On the occasion, President RRT Forum Gurez, Suhail Bashir apprised the Minister about various issues faced by ReTs belonging to ST category. The Minister was informed that the teachers belonging to ST category who have been adjusted as ReTs on merit basis have not been provided any benefit for belonging to the said category.
After giving the patient hearing to the issues faced by them, the Minister assured the delegation that their grievances will be looked into. He assured them that all the genuine demands of ReTs including the transfers and service inclusion are being examined.
He also impressed upon the visiting delegation to concentrate on the academic excellence in the schools by way of imparting quality education to students. The Minister emphasized the need for taking ownership of the students enrolled in government schools and the infrastructure available there in.
He appealed the teachers’ community in general and ReTs in particular to improve their delivery for the holistic development of the students in the government schools.
