*Rs 1088 cr spent on mega projects in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 20: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today underlined the need for carrying forward the gigantic and comprehensive development plan launched in the State by his Government to achieve the desired results of inclusive and holistic development.
Omar Abdullah said that the special focus given to reach out every area and ensure development in all the sectors is now amply visible on ground. “We have to achieve the targets in full and realize the promises made to people”, he said and gave directions to the Administrative Secretaries to monitor the development programmes scheme-wise ensuring their time line completion and benefits to people in general.
In order to receive the appraisal of these projects, the Chief Minister at a high level meeting here today got detailed account of mega projects under execution in Jammu city and around.
Ministers Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Sham Lal Sharma, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Ajay Sadhotra, Raman Bhalla, Abdul Majid Wani, Saif-ullah Mir, Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary Planning and Development, B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, various Administrative Secretaries and senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Administrative Secretaries of Agriculture, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Health and Medical Education, Hospitality and Protocol, Housing and Urban Development, Industries and Commerce, Tourism, Power Development, Roads and Bridges and other departments in their separate PowerPoint presentation presented status of various mega projects being executed in these sectors.
The Chief Minister received brief on modernization of Ranbir Canal, auto mechanical operated gated barrage across Tawi river, extension of Ravi Canal, Seed Multiplication Farm Chakoori, Super Specialty Hospital Jammu, new 200-bedded Maternity Hospital and Convention Centre Jammu.
The Chief Minister also reviewed comprehensive sewerage scheme for Jammu city, 27 MLD sewerage treatment plant, laying of lateral sever lines, sewerage projects for various areas of Jammu, modernization of bus stand, industrial complexes at Bari Brahmana, Samba and Gangyal, Sidhra Golf Course, development of river Tawi front, conservation of Mubarak Mandi, improvement of Raghunath Bazar, Mubarak Mandi Cable Car project, disaster recovery centre, implementation of R-APDRP Part-B in Jammu, distribution transformers metering, 4th Tawi Bridge, Satwari-Kunjwani road Phase-II, construction of Bikram Chowk Flyover, new Legislative Complex, upgradation of Jammu Airport and other developmental works.
The Chief Minister reviewed some 25 projects in 11 departments and gave directions for enhancing the pace of work so that these are completed as per schedule.
Principal Secretary Planning and Development informed the meeting that an amount of Rs. 1088 crore has been incurred on these projects which involve the total cost of Rs. 1550 crore. He said that Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra has taken the review of these projects in the month of August this year and directed the concerned implementing agencies to stick to the completion of projects as per the target.
