Sir,
Refer news item ‘Tourism Ministry’s new initiative to attract tourists’ DE Nov 11.
There is no doubt that tourism industry in the State suffered a great loss due to September floods. The heavy floods wiped away almost all infrastructure. Roads leading to picturesque places either got washes away or got badly damaged. Communication network also came under strain.
The people associated with sssssssssthis industry got unemployed. According to a survey conducted by ASSOCHAM Social Development Foundation (ASDF) the tourism sector has registered a steep fall of 55 per cent in business.
It will need a proper planning by the Tourism Department to revive the Tourism sector in the State. The stakeholders like hotliers, boatmen, and transporters should put forth their suggestions before the authorities, so that the new Government can take some remedial measures before the onset of tourist season. Otherwise, there will be no tourists in the State in coming times. The tourists have to be assumed that they will be taken care of during their sojourn in the State.
Yours etc….
