JAMMU, Nov 16: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has urged the Government to restore the land of Kapal Mochan Shrine, at Shopian Batpora which has been reportedly grabbed by Education Department.
Addressing a meeting of the activists of organization here, today KPC president Kundan Kashmiri said the failure of Government to enact a law for constitution of Prabandhak Board for protection of Hindu Religious places and temples in Kashmir Valley, he said had the Hindu Religious Places and Shrines Bill been passed by the Government there would have been no threat of land grabbing by land mafia or Government agencies.
He said at many places the Government agencies have themselves grabbed the Hindu shrines land and this is a cause of concern.
He said the condition of religious places and shrines in Valley is worst as many of them have either been vandalized or razed to ground during the turmoil period.
He demanded that Bill be passed immediately and the aspirations of Kashmiri Hindus be fulfilled.
Mr Kashmiri also reiterated his appeal to the community to adopt social reforms and avoid one child norm as the population of the community is dwindling day by day.
He also expressed concern over increasing trend of inter-caste marriages in the community saying this way an ancient race will get extinct within decades.
Mr Kashmiri said KPC has launched a campaign in this regard among the community members especially the youth and he distributed pamphlets at various places.
