DODA, Oct 2: The restoration work on Thathri-Gandoh road at Dunadi area, which got damaged due to a huge land slide three days back is going on at full pace with the coordinated efforts of District Administration.
All the stake holders are galvanizing their efforts and personally supervising the road restoration work round the clock which has provided much desired respite to the residents of Gandoh, Bonjwah, Bhatyas and other areas of Bhalessa, which got disconnected from the District Headquarters due to damage caused to road connecting the area, as a temporary bridge ( Trangdi ) over Kalguni Nallah was constructed by Forest Department for transshipment of the stranded passengers to the either side of the slide.
A bridal path for the pony potters to carry essential commodities to the disconnected area was also constructed yesterday. This bridal path will shorten the distance to 1.5 km on foot from 4-5 Km of the distance to reach the other side of the slided portion by climbing the cliff. Power Development Department has also restored the power supply by shifting the transmission lines from the slide area to safer location.
It is pertinent to mention here that the shooting stones and slides are continuously moving down, besides there are large boulders hanging over the cliff which can fall at any time. Once the slide gets stabilized the PMGSY Division Kishtwar and R&B Special Division Gandoh are hopeful that the slide will get cleared in 2-3 days.
